Edinburgh: A Visual History
Friday 19th May 2017This event has passed.

Take a journey through Edinburgh from the medieval to the modern, as illustrated by items in our printed and archive collections. Find out about moments in the city’s history as captured by artists, engravers, photographers and film makers. Hear some amazing stories of the city through contemporary accounts and official documents. These are moments both real and imagined and images both ancient and modern. Come and recognise the familiar, discover the lost and be surprised by the differences.

The Centre for Research Collections holds vast collections of archive and printed collections and Grant Buttars and Elizabeth Quarmby-Lawrence will be drawing on these to illustrate a journey through Edinburgh’s past.
